English prof turned copywriter based in Chicago. Currently telling stories at JPMorganChase.
Intro
I love everything about stories, from Shakespeare’s plays to punchy marketing copy. Writing them. Talking shop about why they work or don’t. Seeing how people engage with them. No matter the medium or the century, words connect people and drive them to act.
Work
I’ve written a lot. Web pages, blog articles, emails, ads, eBooks and more. Before I took up marketing copywriting, I wrote about delightfully weird topics in medieval literature: London’s sex workers, cheating housewives and the medieval invention of the word “cuck.”
Today, I draw on my background as an academic researcher to write highly informative articles about financial literacy. In previous roles, I’ve enjoyed presenting my work to clients. I draw on my previous experiences in the English composition classroom to facilitate productive conversations about what makes writing effective.
I’ve worked in highly regulated industries like finance and healthcare and know how to write copy in collaboration with a range of stakeholders, from product managers to regulatory and legal teams.
My CV
Currently, I write articles for the Education Center on the Chase website on a variety of financial topics related to credit cards, checking and savings accounts. Money can be a stressful topic, and I take pride in approaching every article with empathy for the reader.
Previously, I worked on campaigns, product pages, articles and more at Medline Industries. I got my start in marketing at an digital marketing agency where I primarily wrote SEO-optimized articles and social media ads for B2B and B2C audiences in a range of industries: IT, retail appliance, furniture, food and beverage, retail luxury goods, retail office equipment and more. In addition, I’ve presented research at international conferences of medieval scholars, and I wrote half a dissertation before I realized that the life of an academic wasn’t for me. I also write bad jokes sometimes.
